Tidbits and Tips

Here are just a few of the little things I've done to make small changes in the way I eat and the things that I do throughout the week. You don't have to overhaul your entire way of living to get to where you want to be, start small, little baby steps and go from there!

Sizes matter!!
I'm a lazy person, I can admit that, I would rather go out and buy some fast food than have to cook dinner and then clean up afterwards.  You can still eat fast food and lose weight, trust me! I'm just doing my fast food binges the "healthier" way now.  For example, I used to get a large Whopper meal from Burger King with a Dr. Pepper. No more of that! You can eat almost an entire days worth of calories in just one meal, no thank you! Now I stick to value menus pretty much, Whopper Jr plain with half a bun, possibly chicken nuggets and a few of my hubby's fries and I'm good. Same great tastes, tons fewer calories.

Water, water, water!
For the longest time I wouldn't drink water, I was a soda/milk/tea drinker. All that has changed now, I drink at least 4-6 sometimes more bottles of water a day, can't get enough!  I know you hear it all the time, "drink more water, it's good for you", but it really is true! I can vouch for that one, I can tell a difference the next day if I didn't drink enough water. I'm run down, don't want to do anything, listless.  Down some water and boom!  Ready to go!

Go lean!
I never really paid attention to how lean meats were until I started getting healthy.  Now I don't hardly even buy ground beef anymore, unless my husband wants it specifically for something, I buy ground turkey.  Turkey tacos are some of my favorite things right now!  Had some just a few nights ago actually, ground turkey, lite sour cream, fat free shredded cheddar and whole wheat tortillas, yuuuummy!  When I do buy beef though, I go for leaner selections rather than the more fatty ones.  Seems like a no brainer, but most people don't even think about it.

Sweet tooth be gone!
Don't know about you, but I have a sweet tooth from hell!  Love my sweets, can't get enough!  Fruit roll-ups and gummy snacks are my weakness, yum yum.  To try and combat that, I don't even keep them in the house most of the time, although we do have some gummies around for the kiddos.  I don't keep ice cream, or chocolates are any of my weaknesses around, out of sight, out of mind!  Get em out!  If they're not in you kitchen, you won't eat them!  Clean out those cabinets people!  If it's bad for you and you have a hard time saying no, give it away to someone else and do your best not to buy more.  It is difficult, trust me, I have a hard time saying no to those Muddie Buddies in the chip isle, but I'm doing my best!
